If you’re travelling as a couple and wish to be sociable, you’ll probably want to go for a pair of the ‘Mint seats’. The Mint cabin on JetBlue’s A321 aircraft has 16 seats across five rows. It was seen as a big gamble for the airline, previously sticking to the traditional single-class, single aircraft type, low-cost model. Mint passengers receive men’s and women’s amenity kits from Birchbox, the contents of which will change quarterly to offer a kit that JetBlue aptly describes as “free of the predictable stuff.” For example, they included men’s pomade for hair touch-ups and mascara for women. Beverages include a pre-departure drink, followed by a cocktail and wine with the meal. Dessert was organic ice cream from Blue Marble in Brooklyn. On my “flight” choices included a black angus burger and portobello mushroom mousse. Passengers can choose three of five offerings, served tapas-style.
